“Triumph with Trident,”is a tribute to my Uncle Kim who died in a motorcycle accident in 1991. He was 43 years old and was getting his Masters in History on his way to a PhD at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. His main joys in life were racing his motorcycles, history, building World War II aircraft models and terrorizing his younger siblings. I remember I would get excited as a young kid when I saw his motorcycle in the driveway because I knew he was home and I’d get to sit on his bikes. When I think of the way he lived his life, all I can think of is “Live Free or Die.” His birthday was June 25th and he shares his birthday with my brother Cole Hoar and my cousin Perryn White McLeod. This song was improvised with my good friend Alex Giese way back in 2008 and the artwork is by my cousin Pat White.
